12.27.18, Linda L., thank you for what you do with this site - I am sure it is the most difficult thing you have ever done - just remember you give a face and name to the victims of this self crime - our local media does not - if one person seeks help after looking at your website instead of jumping - is it not worth it? (we have heard from several people, that the website brought clarity to their self destructive mindset. hopefully, they are still around and have not found another way out.)

12.24.18, Lexie R., Tampa, FL., Goodmorning. Firstly, Thank you for this site and all the work you have put into it. Secondly, I hate feeling helpless and I know many others feel that way on this site as well. I was thinking we could organize a protest? The Bridge gets shut down due to weather anyways. It would suck for commuters, but I feel it's the only way we can pull attention to this. (not a bad idea. while it definitely would draw attention to the plight, how many people would be willing to go to jail over it?)

12.21.18, Sofia, Portugal, Hello, I just wanted to say that your website has touched me and made me think about suicide in general, I don't know if I will be able to understad the reason that make somewone wanting to take their life someday. I apreciate to read the articles, they give me a notion that life has also bad periods but that suicide isn't the best escape in most of the cases and I'm thankful that noting like that has happened in my family I also love the sarcasm you use wile talking with the godsquad and the haters (I can't stop laughing). God bless you (jk). Sofia, Portugal, 13. Post scrip: I'm learning english, sorry for any mistake. (hello, sofia, thank you for your kind words. you have a pretty firm grip on reality for such a young person. your english is actually better than many americans any more. it would appear that english is a second language to the gibberish americans tend to write and say. be well.)

12.18.18, Acinorev E., facebook, I've crossed it about three times or so when I've been out in Florida. I almost fainted on my first cruise. Lol! It's crazy how some people say that suicide is for cowards. Boy, if they only knew the damn courage it would take to jump off that baby. 😳 It takes major guts to pull off an act like that. I've suffered from depression my entire life, but there is NO WAY I would consider leaping off any bridge, or attempting to take my life again. I've become too much of a coward. People need to understand that it takes courage to take your life. It does. Something I don't plan on doing any time soon at least. later: I do wish folks wouldn't be leaping off this bridge especially during the day time when the traffic is heavy. Your choice of ending your life will not only affect your loved ones, but also the people who witness your demise. I think I would be a bit traumatized if I went across and saw a person leaping off. That would screw with my mind. But if I had the ability to possibly save their life, or attempt to talk them out, I would try. I know how it is to feel at your wits end. It doesn't feel good at all.

12.11.18, Bob H., shared your post, So sad prayers for the family and friends. People just don't stop and think about what they are doing to the people that care for them. When you take your own life all your thinking about is you. Not the people you say you love and care about. They are the ones that I feel sorry for. They are the ones that are left to try to understand why you didn't ask for help. Why you didn't talk to someone if not a family or friend then someone. We all have problems but most get through it on our own or with help from family and friends or others. Just my opinion only sorry if you don't like it or if you don't agree. But like you I have a right to it.

12.11.18, Brian S., comment from iontb/fb, Why does everyone assume the jumper was depressed? There are other reasons to choose to end your life, even in December. For the sake of first responders and society in general, the voluntary termination of one's own life needs to be offered by hospitals, accompanied by a professional counseling session. If it's depression, the counselor has an opportunity to change the patient's mind (better than jumping off a bridge), and if not, we should all have the right to end our own life on our own terms. (we have been saying this since the beginning of this website. the option to end one's life is one's own choice to make, not other's to thwart.)

11.05.18, April T., without getting detailed or mushy… Your comment about what suicide does to friends, families, as well as people who witness a stranger jumping off the bridge, saved my life. Your tactics would not have worked without the "in your face" attitude that you’ve written about. And you were right: "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" Keep pressing on, dude, what you do matters!! (that was not our quote, but thanks, we hope you continue hanging around and live the life that others were unable to. be well.)

10.15.18, John H., facebook, If I didn't have just a wee bit or morbid curiosity in me I would never know about the frequent Skyway Bridge suicides. Pretty sad. I wonder if the mainstream media did report them would mental illness get more attention? I guess some folks would rather not know about all the families suffering.

09.27.18, Danny S., facebook, Thank you for your effort here Skyway Bridge. Also the many posters. Some of the accounts of the people that have personally witnessed some jumps is heart breaking. Hope they ALL fully know and understand they couldn’t stop someone that has made up their minds to end their pain. The men and women That have jumped are not "nut jobs" like some commenters stated. They were in what they felt was unescapable pain whether emotionally or physically. Many of us are grateful for what we have today in our lives and would not do that. I am grateful for what I don’t have in my life today that would make me do that to make it easier for me to appreciate I guess. This bridge has been very bothersome to me in the sense A friend of mine’s brother jumped off it in the 90s I’m not sure exactly what year and lived but was crippled from his mid section down and in a wheel chair since and I heard not too long ago did die. Not sure how. After I drove over it yesterday and saw the car up at the top just after the man jumped I remembered my friends brother last name is Kostavich I believe or close to that spelling and wondered about him even more ironically today is my birthday and had to go to the tag office to renew my tags for my truck and sons racing go karts trailer And ran in to my friend who I hadn’t seen in over 25 years. I gave him my phone number and asked him to call me soon I did not have the heart to ask him how his brother was or if indeed he did die but it was just way too ironic just thinking about him not seeing him in so long and then running into him at the tag office. November 28, 2016 I was going to a doctor appointment in Bradenton when Elizabeth Vasti took her life from the same area in southbound side. Because of the traffic I was very late getting back from the doctors to a job that I had to go to I do remodeling work for homes when I got to the customers house I told her why I was late and she was crying Liz was her friend and a good friend she told me things that weren’t even put in comments because she knew first hand. That was heartbreaking also being she was a mother and wife with three beautiful children two daughters and a son. Just hitting way too close to home. It’s sad because I have a couple of doctors over there and I live in Saint Pete I have to drive that bridge a lot and now every time I drive over it I’m just grateful not to see cars at the top. Thank you for creating the group and I have no doubt there has been good coming from reading the posts that have caused so much pain to innocent people who did nothing to deserve that pain that they are dealing with after seeing what they saw. I have no doubt several or many even contemplating jumping has read things from here and changed their mind. I hope you know that Skyway Bridge. Thank you from me and many more that didn’t have to go through that pain because your forum helped some to realize there are other ways to deal with problems.

09.09.18, anon, Florida, For a few years now, I've been a frequent visitor to your site. Mostly, because I eventually had planned on Jumping from this bridge and ending my own life and found myself obsessed with this bridge, the things said about it, etc. I must confess that every time I read an entry regarding a jumper, it dissuaded me from this particular method. Not because of the gruesome nature of death, but the publication of it (which is nothing against your website considering you probably prolonged my life actually). I decided that this method is no longer something I will ever do and I won't end my life publicly, traumatizing others. I still plan on eventually ending my own life on my own terms, but I don't see it occurring in the immediate future. I guess I'm just trying to say thank you for the website, as tragic as the website is, I probably would've jumped off the bridge by now if I hadn't found it. I know some people have issues with your website, which is their right, but you saved my life for the moment. later:
04.24.23, anon, Philadelphia, regarding: 09/09/2018 comment. message: That was me who expressed that. Five years later and I'm still here- still don't want to be, but I'm waiting for my lifestyle to kill me. Life wasted, I guess, but perhaps still better than ending it now.
I still frequent your site often- see what could've been. I've moved away from Florida since then. So much has happened since, but I still think of the bridge even though it's no longer an option.
It's incredible to see the impact the fence has made in the years that have passed. Hope you're doing okay. Glad to see less jumpers. (while it's true that the barrier has limited the frequency of jumpers, very little seems to have progressed in the mental health aspect of things. society is unraveling at the seams and people's minds along with it, many made worse with the cornucopia of harmful headmeds. we are glad you are coping with the one life you were granted. thank you for your kind words and do keep on keeping on, lifestyle be damned.)

08.20.18, Shamess A., facebook, I only learned of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge a year ago while listening to CBC Radio One. There was a gentleman on the radio show who had survived his jump from the bridge and live to tell about it. I was riding home from work and this broadcast came on and by the end of it I was in tears. It wasn't so much his reasoning for wanting to kill himself. It was more so in regards to his telling of the effects and his memory of being in the water and having his body crash off the rocks before being pulled and to a boat. I've included the link in this post because I'm not sure everybody has heard it. I started researching the Skyway Bridge after this and was mortified to see the site the tracks these deaths and these attempts be they successful or unsuccessful.

07.27.18, Mark L., facebook, Girl on a bridge
Earlier this week a group of Harley bikers were riding south on I-275 when they saw a girl about to jump off the Sunshine Skyway so they stopped.
The Harley leader, George, a big burly man of 53, gets off his bike, walks through the gawkers, past the Florida State Trooper, and says, "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to commit suicide," she says.
While he didn't want to appear "sensitive," he didn't want to miss a be-a-legend opportunity either so he asked ... "Well, before you jump, why don't you give me a kiss?"
So, with no hesitation at all, she leaned back over the railing and did just that ... and it was a long, deep, lingering kiss followed immediately by another one.
After she's finished, George gets applause and approval from his group, the onlookers. Even from the State Trooper. Then he says, "Wow! That was the best kiss I have ever had, Honey! That's a real talent you are wasting, Sugar Shorts. You could be famous if you rode with me. Why are you committing suicide?"
"My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl".
The onlookers are still unclear whether she jumped or was pushed!

07.19.18, fbplugin, Chrissy P., I'm a toll collector here. Every time I see numerious cop cars fly through I get a wrench in my gut and an overwhelming saddness knowing that it could be a jumper. Hopefully I didn't let them pass by without at least trying to make them feel like they meant something to somebody....On a daily basis I get to see/meet so many wonderful people and I see so many faces. I try my best to read them all...I would have never imagined how many hurting souls take their life off of this bridge when once upon a time this was my happy place (when I was still ignorant to the fact.) I'm getting used to the fact but my heart still bleeds for that poor soul and their loved ones. Remember every moment is a gift and somebody out there DOES care

07.11.18, Adam W., facebook, Sometimes...people are simply done. Often there's no note, or anything that would indicate it. Just increases the chances of being stopped. It's a shame. With any luck at all, someone will reach out one more time before making the jump. So. Answer your phones. Always.

07.10.18, Schuyler M., facebook/BradentonHeraldNews, It's basically a weekly occurrence these days, I remember when I was prob 15, my family and I were driving south on the skyway leaving a devil rays game and we seen a guy sitting on the top, as we passed him, we quickly realized what was going on, we stopped, but he already jumped. Craziest thing ive ever seen. Happened about a year after my friends dad jumped. SOMETHING NEEDS to be done. Barbwire fence or something.

07.10.18, Mary P., facebook, First and foremost, I hope anyone thinking of jumping gets the help they need. Pick up the call box phone, call a friend, a loved one... call a hospital.
Secondly, jumping off a major bridge rarely kills you on impact. It is possibly the most brutal and painful way to do this. You shatter all your bones, and bob and slowly suffocate - if not in the water, than your own blood. The stories of the few survivors out there should be heard. And if you are found alive, your condition is impossible to predict. Vegetative state, paraplegic, quadriplegic... please, please think about this.

06.17.18, Bill B., iontb/fb, I probably see one maybe two vehicles a week up there on average nobody in the car cops behind and in front of the vehicle. Usually there's a cop going through the vehicle and one looking over the bridge into the water.

06.01.18, Audra O., facebook, to FOX 13 News - Tampa Bay, So Fox News puts a story on the 6:30 news about a woman attempting to commit suicide by jumping off some random bridge in some other state....but you have yet to report ANY jumpers or attempted suicides on our own Sunshine Skyway bridge RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY! Only IONTB reports ALL of the Skyway incidents. Real news. Not your filtered, half fact stories that you do no research on!

05.31.18, Angela L., mydeathspace.com, I follow the Sunshine Skyway bridge fb page and saw where people reported a jumper but hadn't found the body yet so I'm assuming it was this young lady. I swear after reading about the horrific damage it does to a body when it hits that water at about 70mph I would not ever consider jumping. They say some actually survive the jump only to drown. There have been a few that managed to survive and tell their story. One guy said he immediately regretted what he had done as soon as he jumped! Another guy ended up being paralyzed and while in the hospital he managed to overdose. Some of the jumpers have almost hit boaters below. Can you imagine? Recently there was a jumper that missed a man and a small boy in a boat by just a few feet. How awful for that child to have to see that!! I pray this young lady is now at peace and that she did not suffer on her way out of this world.

05.31.18, Pam K., mydeathspace.com, I've read accounts from retired coroner's who explain what happens to the body when they die by a suicide jump. Ribs shatter and break, puncturing the aorta, lungs and other major organs. Very sad to suffer so badly that the person feels that here is no other option. All the person wants is for the pain to end but their death is a horribly violent and painful one. RIP.

03.28.18, Annie Marie O., facebook, Drove from Tampa to Siesta Key and I was amazed by this bridge. There's nothing like that in Ohio! I just feel bad people need to jump from this bridge. Sad how something so beautiful can also be so sad.

03.28.18, Mustafa Salim Hammed Hernandez, facebook, That was me.. I'm fine though... Just recovering here in St Anthony Hospital..
09.26.18, Mustafa S. H. H., facebook, That was me jumping off this morning.. I'm ok.. Few bruises here and there, but I'm ok.. Can't believe I survived.. Oh well, time to take a nap here in Northside hospital...
09.29.18, Mustafa S. H. H., facebook, I'll be jumping off next week again 💪
10.21.18, Mustafa S. H. H., facebook, That was me again... I'm in Manatee hospital right now with 2 broken collarbone and a broken ankle... I should be fine.... That was scary though.... I'm not gonna lie...
10.21.18b, Mustafa S. H. H., facebook, That was my cousin.. He heard that I jumped earlier.... So he wanted to be like me.... Smh...
11.20.18, Mustafa S. H. H., facebook, That was me AGAIN.. This time I got hurt.. I broke ankle and my 2 elbows.. I think this is my last jump.. IM DONE!!
12.11.18, Mustafa Muhammad Akbar Hernandez Jr., facebook, It wasn't me this time... I'm scheduled to jump next week...
12.21.18, Mustafa M. A. H. Jr., facebook, Just finish doing another jump this morning...2 broken arms and 2 broken ankles..I should be fine...

02.25.18, Eddie R., Saint Petersburg, Fl., I can’t begin nor do I want to begin what goes on in the minds of those people finding the need to jump of the skyway. I pray that all of those family find peace and some solice in their greaving hearts. I think cost what it may the bridge should revert back to the way it once was. Reinforce it do what you will but I don’t want the city I live in to be known for the bridge which poor souls jump off of. We need to do something quick!

01.09.18, Mary P., facebook, I wish more contemplating this jump would realize almost no jumpers die by impact. Sadly, the vast majority survive the impact, many even consciously. Broken bones mean you can no longer function in the water and drown. Others still have internal bleeding, and if one can manage to stay afloat, painfully bleed out into their own bodies before getting help.
It's an awful way to go. Please, if you are thinking about harming yourself, get help. Any help. If you feel embarrassed, reach out to any number of anonymous crisis lines. Hopelessness is temporary. Agony through til death is permanent.

01.09.18, Crystal M., facebook, The reality of injuries due to jumping before you drown are what made me rule out the bridge in my suicide plans. I thank the original incarnation of the Skyway site for that. (and we appreciate you being here to say so.)

10.25.17, anon, A boy, about 15 yrs old ran away from home and jumped off Skyway due to school abuse. (a beginning, middle, and an end, yet a stark lack of detail.)

10.10.17, Arazay M., Thunder Bay, ON., Canada, This is kinda creep, considering it keeps track of all the suicides that has occurred here (you are the first one to call us "kinda creep". that's a lie!)

10.05.17, Sylvester H., San Francisco, date: October 5th, 1986, My great-great aunt jumped from a bridge. It was on a hiking trail, in the Lost Coast (in northern California). We never got to see her again, not even her body. By we, I mean my parents. their parents. It took the life out of everything she touched, my mom would say. No news was ever posted of this, for their was no search. She rests in the waves now, sleeping with the dolphins and whales. My tears are devoted to her.

08.16.17, Laura, St Paul, I just want to say that this site is indescribably important and valuable to the general human population. I have been obsessed with the pure romance of jumping off a bridge and this site has 100% and completely changed my mind. There is nothing beautiful about this. This is horrible, and it is sad. I don't condemn anyone for taking their life as I believe they are completely within their right to do so. I just wish they had waited to see what tomorrow would bring. Please don't kill yourself. There will be a tomorrow. There is someone out there who cares. Please, if you're feeling this way, reach out to someone. This isn't the answer. There is ALWAYS something else out there, regardless of what you may have done in your life. "Since Alice had received no religious instruction, and since she had lived a blameless life, she never thought of her awful luck as being anything but accidents in a very busy place. Good for her." -- Kurt Vonnegut

08.08.17, Bill L., iontb/fb, I worked at O'Neill's Marina for many years. I'd guess 98% or more were brought there. Unnerving is a mild description . Most are disfigured. Most people don't know that the top of the bridge is Hillsborough county so they have to wait for their coroner to pick up the body. I've seen most of the worst not a pretty sight

07.27.17, Ashton A., (posted on the 'call to action' fb plug-in), i have my doubts about the state just wanting more sacrifices. The problem was there from start. "If you build it, they will come". I think the state wants to leave suicide-by-bridge as an open option for its inhabitants as its far cleaner than a building jumper downtown thats going to make a mess and likely decrease tourism. Its easier for them to fish a body out of the bay and keeps the drama away from downtown where the money is made.
If you prevent suicides at the bridge, then theyre going to find another way to kill themselves and it probably wont be as clean and quiet as the bridge, thats what officials are scared of. Using the bridge, the suicides have less of an impact on the rest of the public that has to go about their lives normally regardless of one persons feelings.
Its really sad but taking away the bridge as an easy option i believe will only make the situation worse.
If you prevent suicides there, they will simply find another way. People that are serious will find a way no matter you do to try and stop them. And that other way may be worse than the bridge jumping itself. So it seems to me that building a barrier may make the situation in general, worse.
Sure people wont be jumping off the bridge anymore, but what do you think people will do without the bridge as an option? Theyre still going to want to kill themselves, its not like having the bridge there is MAKING them jump. Putting up a barrier is only going to stop suicides there, it wont actually stop the suicides though as they will just find another way. At least with the bridge all the suicides are concentrated in one place, the process of recovery can be streamlined, an theyve got phones up there if theyre unsure about it. Thats all you can offer someone thats that determined to end their life.
If they really wanted to do something about this, they need a counsellor posted on the top of that bridge at all times that is there solely to talk to people on the bridge and see how theyre doing. And not some abrasive cop, or official thats just doing his job, i mean like volunteers, people who want to be there to help these people because they want to, not because its their job or they have to. This would create an environment that would be more encouraging for the person to go on living.

07.14.17, Stephen H., Del Rio, TX., I was thinking that putting a jumper's autopsy report online somewhere might persuade others that jumping from anywhere isn't a good idea. I've seen the "crabs eat the eyes and cheeks" and "bag of bones" comments but maybe if people see what really happens (and know their very public death will be even more on display) they'll slow down. I'm sure you've thought of this before but what's holding you back? (we have mentioned this several times elsewhere on this site. we have also suggested that this same imagery replace the crisis phones on the bridge. we would gladly post those pictures here, if they were provided, as we will not go through the time, expense, and hassle to fetch them up ourselves.)

07.13.17, Doris H. B., facebook, There was a time I looked at this bridge as a beautiful work of art. But now I am in tears knowing it has claimed another victim of suicide. I never knew the true history of this bridge. So sad.....

07.10.17, Audra O., iontb/fb, Amazing how these news stations pick and choose stories to talk about. I have NEVER heard them report any of these incidents, other than an occasional back up on the bridge due to "a jumper", but they have talked about the crazy monkeys in Ocala several times now. Don't care about the monkeys. How about talk about a real issue right here in our community and bring awareness to the problem. Maybe some county/state wide attention will get people talking and nets will be installed. (we have been pointing this out for years. just read the jumper reports and the stark lack of media coverage. if it weren't for IONTB, there would be near zero news coverage. the media is slowly being replaced by services such as this and the fact people need to seek out the news on their own and judge what is truth. it can be difficult and it's sad it has slipped to that. suicidal thought is a natural occurrence to those that contemplate an end to whatever pain they wish to stop. one does not need to hear about suicide to think suicide. publicizing the fact that jumping off that bridge is not the easy out they may think it is, would go further than the "shhh, let's not talk about it" approach that is working so well now.~  instead of crisis phones on the bridge, perhaps autopsy photos of previous jumpers might change some minds.)

07.07.17, Ann Z., iontb/fb, People work under the bridge near the main columns and are sick of seeing this. These people jumping could do well to carry out their act in privacy, so as not to injure someone else.

06.28.17, Robbie, Florida, I just wanted to send a message to say that when I first saw this website, I thought it was horrible. Now after three years of coming back to this site on regularly, and actually riding over the bridge on a evening when someone jumped off, I can say to you that "I finally get it". ··· Please don't ever take this site down, because there is more good than bad on this website. (read his story.)

06.28.17, Eden, St Petersburg, If not nets, why not some signage, possibly inspirational quotes. "you are loved, you are someone's everything". It may give someone pause - if only for a moment to rethink... In memory 11/28 my dear friend (sorry about your friend. while the thought of additional signage is good, some people are up there considering to jump, because they feel unloved and no sign will change their mind. we always thought if they want to hit home with the potential suicidal, install images of jump aftermath autopsies, such as torn organs, mushed insides, ripped bodies, and the like. 'this could be you.')

06.26.17, Randy H., iontb/fb, Net fence or a wall will not stop people from commenting suicide If they are gonna do it they will find a way. They go there to maybe have one last peaceful scenery instead of a basement with a bullet to the head There are phones on top for them to call and get help They don't want the help anymore. It's those that get up there and just stand that want the help yes it's sad and it hurts the loved ones left behind but it's been happening all over the world for a long time and it will continue to happen

06.21.17, Logan S. P. C., Lacey, WA., usa, As a person who struggles every day with both depression and the outcomes of Brain trauma, I thank Buddha every day for a reason to keep on going, not giving in to the impulses that would lead a person to what I believe is the coward's way out. Mental Illness is in itself heartbreaking, and for a person to take his or her life is a cry for help. I've driven across the new Sunshine Skyway many times, and I feel we must do something, anything to stop this from happening. It's sad, such a beautiful bridge has a dark side. It's the same in Canada, there's been suicides off the Jacques Cartier in Montreal, and the Lions Gate in Vancouver. We must ask ourselves WHY? and ask the Florida government to at least strengthen their Mental Health authorities to get these people the support they need in times of crisis. But the real work has to come from those who need help. If things are bad, don't bottle them up till its too late to do something, SPEAK UP. No one will pass judgement, and you'll see that somewhere there are folks that love them, and would be hurt if they died. There's nothing glamourous about suicide, We must try to understand. Until we do, there will be more people uselessly ending their lives. Namaste.

06.19.17, Francia F., I live two hours away from the bridge. To jump, or not to jump; is the question. ··· Have anybody let you know ahead of time about their intentions of jumping? If not, I will be the first one. (read her story.)

06.19.17, JoAnne A. G., facebook, (responding to a negative comment about this site.), I don't think the website rakes in millions. This is one of the most honest, compassionate sites that I have come across. Your anger is misdirected. (thanks, joanne. we have raked in less than $700 through donations and ad revenue, since starting ads in 2011.)

06.15.17, Val, Dunedin, FL., Let people do it. Let it make a statement on our f**ked up society and let be a window to peer into our f**ked up family's.

06.13.17, Cris L., fb plugin, Sir, my little brother walked off this bridge a year and a half ago. I have just recently had the courage to click on to this site. It has helped me move forward in helping others and work toward a plan to get this bridge harder to jump. Skyway is TOO EASY!!!! I feel your pain Sir and am willing to make a difference in telling my story. Your story. Depression doesn't discriminate. My daughter and I have to cross this bridge every 8 weeks for infusions at All Childrens. I purposely drive slow on the right side in case I see someone in distress. You are NOT alone. Please don't hesitate to contact me in hopes of a blueprint to make this hot spot jump proof. Your Wife and my Brother did not die in vain.

06.12.17, Susan E., fb plugin, This is the best perspective I have ever come across and gave me some comfort in trying to understand suicide after recently losing my 17 yo granddaughter who killed herself as a result of Mental Illness. She did noy chose jumping off the bridge as her method, however she once told a friend if she ever wanted to end her own life she might do it that way. Sharing this in memory of her. #haileysvoiceofhope everydayhealth.com/what-suicidal-depression-feels-like

06.11.17, Glenn P., iontb/fb, This might open a can of worms but in my opinion... I strongly believe that the United States of America should legalize Assisted Suicides... I seen a documentary in the UK where it does happen and the patient goes through a psych eval and the doctor approved it the patient is given a drink in their own home..in their own bed... And after about 15 minutes or so fall asleep and never wake up.. It is done peacefully and there is no suffering what so ever... Its a sure thing that you will pass away peacefully.. Out weighs the GSW to the face...the jumping of buildings and bridges...the overdoses...where you might have a chance of living.. Again its just my opinion.

06.11.17, Kathy B., iontb/fb, I personally think jumping off the skyway is like trying to get people to notice you after it's to late....like someone's 5 minutes of fame....I just don't get it, definitely going to make the news and newspapers. I've had two brothers commit suicide one shot himself in the head years ago and my other brother last year slit his wrists and took all his prescription medication at once....I've contemplated many times and attempted as a kid....the skyway is like punishing yourself....

06.05.17, Bee, Australia, Guys I've watched your website for years. I hope it does get through to people how suicide is not worth it. The pain it causes family and friends, the finality of it over something that would have passed with time. I will admit I always had trouble with major depression but I never would tell anyone. I really hope your website gets it through to people that this is not an option.
For me my worst years were from about 12-25. I had it planned and then looked around and realised who I would hurt by doing this. I could only think of one person and that person was my mum. And then I thought of all the times I stood between her and my dad to prevent her from getting hurt and I realised how with one action I could cause her more pain then my father ever had with his fists.
I hope anyone looking at your website can realise they need to get help, they need to talk to someone. I'd go from reason to reason to live. I'd tell myself that I was taking the coward's way out that if I went ahead I'd be giving in. I'd tell myself it was something transitory and things would be better in a few weeks or months but my main reason was I could not do this to someone who cared for me and even though I often thought I'd never get through I did.
I'm 30 years older now. I have a wonderful husband and a child. I've moved on so much more than I ever thought I would have in those days. The problems that seemed so insurmountable have either disappeared into the past or I have learnt ways to deal with them.
Thank you for your brutal honesty. I wish you'd been around back in my day. It would have been helpful. (thank you for your story. yours is a story of adverse conditions making you a much stronger woman. your perseverance and determination brought you through the dark years and into the light of a better today. cheers to you! we can only hope that people currently in your old once was shoes, can read your story and grab on to the same determination you possessed. thank you for your kind words.)

06.05.17, Stacy M., I actually love your website it's the only reason I'm here (thank you for your kind words. be well.)

03.23.17, MyDeathSpace, I finally drove over the bridge on Friday night! Stopped at the toll booth and with a little MDS glimmer in my eye, asked the attendant, "Is this that FAMOUS bridge?!" He said, "Yes, if you mean the one that everyone jumps off from." I then asked, "Why is this bridge so popular for suicides?" He responded with, "I don't know, maybe because it's only $1.25 to cross." LOL (if you're going to jump anyway, just rip through the sunpass lane and the trip is free.)

03.19.17, Heidi H., iontb/fb, Everyone acts like people suicidal can help it, but in reality its a mental illness and with it gone untreated they kill themselves. If Pinellas County would focus or cared about about all these folks that has jumped to their death they would put up reinforcement so it would be harder to jump, but I have noticed we got a mayor that don't care about us, he swept the sewage issue under the rug, the SunCoast Mental Health all they do is give you drugs that make you feel depressed, useless, hopeless unless you stand up and tell them your refuse to take their sorry meds. I know back in April 2016 when my Dr. told me I had cancer I went to skyway, but I am terrified of water, and I didn't jump. I prayed all the way to TIA bordered plane out of country. Im currently in 1:1 in home therapy.

03.01.17, Carmen D., Reedsville, WI, regarding interview for school, Hi, I am sorry you guys don't want to talk to anybody about your bridge. I think it is amazing! I've been over it once and will get the opportunity to do it again in the next few weeks. I was hoping to maybe talk to someone but I guess that is out of the question. Well I want you to know, I will give your bridge the best article that I can for my school project. If anyone should decide to let me interview them, please contact me. I arrive on March 21 and leave on March 25. If it makes you feel any better, people like me from the Midwest marvel at what you all take for granted. We just got 7 inches of snow and the roads are total crap again. Can't wait to visit the Sunshine State! (we've been in wisconsin in the winter and know it's harshness first hand. it no doubt gets tiresome by march. if it's any consolation, the high here today should be around 78°. i hope that helps. as far as an interview, perhaps send us your prepared questions and we can respond. our unwillingness to chat it up is mainly with the media, as they tend to disparage what we do, all while pretending to play nice during the chat. keep in mind that this is a website about skyway jumpers. questions about the bridge itself can be answered through articles found within the website or on the google. we hope you enjoy your stay, as you flee the ravages of the wisconsin winter.)

01.28.17, Eric S., Tampa, Florida, Hello to all that are reading and I hope that you are having a great New Year. I was just talking to a good friend of mine tonight who I have been friends with for over 12 years and he goes fishing a lot. I asked him if he ever goes under the Sunshine Skyway and he says that he has but he goes out from Clearwater out into the Gulf to fish there. I asked him if he has ever heard about the suicides and he says that he has. He told me this story about a buddy of his that went on a fishing trip during the day and all was fine until nearing the Skyway. He saw something hit the water at a fast rate of speed. Long story short, the Coast Guard got there and he saw the body of a man being pulled out of the water onto the Coast Guard vessel. He said that the body acted "like a Slinky" over the edge of the vessel. Lifeless. Now, something came to mind after that: Imagine if you are going with your child, or little nieces or nephews, cousins or whatever on their first trip on a boat to do some fishing and come near the Skyway and the young one(s) tell you that they just saw something hit the water fast. Next thing you know, you hurry to where the spot is where the young child said the splash was and there was a victim, lifeless, and floating there. Then, you have to wait and call every available rescue personnel to come and then, well, whatever happens next as far as recovery and talking to the child as to what they saw and all. A fun day out fishing turns into an absolute nightmare. A child is scarred for life. I know that we all have mentioned here about the barriers and all to keep people from jumping. I think that this website is doing the right thing and opening the eyes as to what is happening on the Skyway. I myself, have been going through difficult times but I am seeking help and I am doing okay for myself. Stay safe everyone and REMEMBER! THERE ARE PEOPLE AND HOTLINES THAT CAN HELP! Have a great evening Stay safe! (we have heard the stories of the broken bodies as a result of jumping. while we stress that people seek help with what ails them, it is imperative that those in charge of the bridge do something more than worthless phones and cameras. put up a fence. put it up now. thanks for your input and keep working on that better you.)

01.25.17, Hanns Jones, facebook, I often still Wonder what it is you actually hope to accomplish with this? People do some dumb shit and they'll either learn from it or die. In my case it worked out but I surely don't want anyone trying what I pulled off.
01.25.17, Skyway Bridge, bringing to light what the government is allowing to happen. nothing would please us more than for this to go away. they could make it all go away. you tried with your ESR. they ignored it. there was much talk about fences and barriers. they ignored it. how many more jumpers will it take? at some point, there will be a barrier. how long it will take or how many more deaths will result, are unknown.

01.17.17, dougie bomber, Honestly, I feel as though you only care about putting the jumps on the website and not preventing the jumps. Maybe it's just me being a moron. (you are not a moron, well, at least when it comes to this.~  we feel posting the jumps should awaken those in charge, to put an end to them. we offer help to those that will use it and we recently posted a call to action to try and get people involved in forcing the government to put an end to jumpers. so far, crickets. nothing would please us more than for this site to fade into black, because there were no more jumpers, due to some form of barrier to stop them.)
01.18.17, dougie bomber, I am pretty sure that this is the only way to reply. But, honestly. I was wrong. After a some reflection and reading your reply, I realized that you guys are actually doing the right thing. Anyway, sorry for wasting your time. (no problem, glad to clear things up.)
