thank you, jumpnews reporters: 03.01.26, Sarah M., Bradenton, FL., Possible jumper, Many many cops and government workers surrounding car north bound 03.01.26, CM, Clearwater, florida, Was riding my motorcycle over the skyway bridge and saw a young female climbed the fence and jump, her white car was parked and she frantically climbed over and jumped before I could stop and traffic was heavy , I didnt know what to do but I saw her jump. 03.01.26, Chris M., Tampa, (07:00pm), Was traveling on bridge on evening of 3/1 around 7pm. Northbound lane was mostly closed. At top of bridge, suv had driver door open and fph was walking around car as was the road rangers. Didnt see ems there. Wondering if you knew if anyone jumped as seeing the empty car made it seem like someone might have. 03.02.26, Lauren D., St. Pete, fl., Driving home north bound to st Pete. I called and made a report we saw a young woman on the other side of the fence on top of the skyway bridge. If we have an update if she was rescued? I have been looking at news reports since last night hoping they made it to her in time.  03.03.26, John, Tampa, Was fishing underneath the skyway for the first time and the jumper landed 20-30 feet from our boat. Scared the daylights out of us. Just 30 minutes before i asked my buddies if we would survive a jump from that height, real freaky coincidence. Woman was dead on impact, dispatch had us stay near the body to help coast guard locate her, as she was drifting out with the tide. Good fishing day ended tragic. any more info is welcome. |

Multiples of each. 03.02.26, Chris W., So if this was in fact a jumper what are we doing as fellow motorists when we see someone pull off into the breakdown lane on top of a bridge, get out and start climbing the fence? Why are we just driving by and not trying to stop and intervene? It seems like it would take some effort to get up and over that fence, certainly I would think it would provide enough time for a motorist to stop and help prevent this. I know this sounds like Monday morning quarter back and I certainly am not trying to be insensitive to this individual. Ive often thought of what Id do if I saw someone looking suspicious up there. Ive prepared myself to stop at a moments notice as it has played out in my head a number of times ever since the person who bicycled to the top and jumped last year. (why we think most people won't stop.) |

Prayers for the lost soul and the family. all I can do is smh. the barrier has already stopped, historically, 30-40 jumpers so far. what made anybody think that the so called barrier was going to stop everybody from jumping? from the way you think, perhaps you wish for more jumpers instead. Roslynn S., as someone who crosses that bridge every day, that fence has made a huge stop to the jumpers or attempted jumpers. You're still going to have people that have unfortunately made a decision this is what they're going to do, no matter what. Amanda J., I believe its called a deterrent? Idk, 🤷 so tragic. 03.02.26, Lauren D., I called 911 at 5:52 pm yesterday. My husband and family were in the car and we saw her on the other side of the fence . May she rest in peace. I described her as late teens early 20s when i called to report. later: she was definitely upset. Seeing her face is something I wont forget. I hope that she is at peace.

She suffered from depression. She carried on through her day as normal according to her husband. Left the house with no indication of distress. She left a note on the front seat of her car. She was seen running across the bridge, rush hour traffic, pouring down rain. Her body was never recovered. sorry you lost your friend like that. what year was it? Becky M., I wanna say 2009. Her name was Helen. I tried to look her up a few times over the years on the website, and just did again seeing this post, but I couldn't pinpoint her on the website. Her only son and daughter-in-law are my good friends. I just haven't wanted to ask, but she passed just after her first granddaughter was born (w/i a year) and she is 17 now. we post everything we know. there are many jump incidents that we are unaware of. disagreement |

while some wishing to self-cancel their existence do manage to circumvent the
barrier, much to the joy of the barrier detractors, the jump records since
2021 continues to prove that
the barrier
has been a positive deterrent to people jumping off the bridge. we will update as things come along. new additions to this site will be listed here. feel free to contribute. if you are having trouble dealing with life and everything that comes with it, make the effort to find and use the help that is available to you. life is indeed worth living. remember, you are responsible for your own well being. love who you are and who you can be. always maintain an effort to improve upon yourself and allow no one to affect that. rid yourself of those that hold you back, no matter who they are. be they stranger, friend, or even family, lose the destructive forces tearing you down. end your addictions, be they drugs, alcohol, love, social media, and/or whatever consumes you to a negative degree. better yourself. associate with those that care about you. become stronger and healthier in body and mind. by all means, talk to people that can help you. do keep an eye on your friends and family members that may be despondent and depressed. check in on those that need checking in on. a few kind words and a helping hand, may be all it takes to send them down a better path. be well, everyone. |

sure, the barrier detractors will still cry
their "the suicidal will just find
another way!" tears of despair. however, self-deathers will not be performing their public display of self-elimination on the public skyway bridge, to anywhere near the extent as the pre-barrier years. that, my dear detractors, is the sole purpose of the barrier. |
